For at least a decade, Arthur and Alfred found it nigh on impossible to say anything to each other. If they managed a conversation, then both would be terrified of saying the wrong thing and making the other hate them. Everyone else could see what was going on and quickly tired of it. Even their enemies started wishing for them to just hook up.
In the end, it was Canada and France who sorted it out, at the 2000 New Year’s Party. Working together, they got Alfred to ask Arthur to dance with him, and Arthur to say yes. The two danced for an hour before realising how much time had passed. They ended up going off on their own, and no one saw them for the rest of the night.
What happened? Well, initially nothing - they still couldn’t speak to each other. That was, until Alfred got up the courage to hold Arthur’s hand. They shared their first kiss during the fireworks as the New Millennium began, and spent the night cuddled up on beanbags under an oversized blanket together.
Francis and Matthew are very proud of themselves for managing it. Should the USUK boys get married, then their Cupids will definitely be in the wedding party - although it hasn’t stopped Arthur and Francis fighting!
Even though Arthur could not visit the young American very much, he always had just enough time to send him letters and packages. He never really knew how old the other was, so he still ended up sending America (Alfred) children story books when he was the human age of 16.
Whenever it’s Arthur’s birthday, Alfred goes to a different country and buys some rare, foreign tea for him. On his last birthday, Arthur got something called Leafy Pu’er from Malawi.
Arthur has always loved Alfred, he only realized it during the American Civil War when he realized he really couldn’t live without him.

Arthur can be one of three personalities when drunk, He’s either and annoying drunk in which he always wants attention and to be held in Alfred’s arms. An angry drunk in which he continues to yell at Alfred, his imangary friends and objects such as walls or stuffed bears, or a sad drunk in which he reflects on what has happened to him and wish he could change the past some how.
Arthur is a keeper of cats. So far he has Sherlock, Merlin, Harry, Doctor, Elizabeth, Beatle, Beckham, Shakesphere, and a kitten named Ben.
Alfred is not allowed to be concerned about the increasingly large number of cats in Arthur’s home because he, himself, owns numerous pets all named after super heroes.
Bonus: They both keep so many pets cause they miss each other. ;)
